Munch Guidelines

A short guide to help every Munch go well.

For Hosts

  • Arrive a few minutes early
  • Stay at the venue shown in the Munch
  • Welcome Guests respectfully
  • Honour the selected payment arrangement
  • Do not pressure Guests to order or spend more
  • Help the group identify one another through Check-In and Find Each Other
  • Do not move the Munch to a private or different place
  • Use Safety Override or report serious concerns when needed

Before the Munch

  • Confirm the venue, address, start time and duration
  • Check the payment arrangement
  • Check the Munch languages
  • Plan your journey
  • Arrive a few minutes early

During the Munch

  • Be courteous
  • Give everyone space to speak
  • Respect personal boundaries
  • Avoid intrusive questions
  • Do not harass, threaten, insult or discriminate
  • Follow the venue's rules
  • Do not pressure anyone to share private information

Payments

  • Follow the payment arrangement shown on the Munch
  • When everyone pays separately, each person pays for what they consume
  • Do not assume another person will cover your order
  • Do not pressure anyone to spend more

Public venue rule

  • Stay at the public food or drink venue shown in the Munch
  • Do not move the Munch to a private home
  • Do not move it to a park, beach, trail or other location not shown in the Munch
  • Do not change the venue informally without following platform rules

Check-In and Find Each Other

  • Check In only when physically near the venue
  • Use Find Each Other only to help the group locate you
  • Keep identification descriptions short and practical
  • Do not use the feature as chat

Safety

  • Leave whenever you feel uncomfortable
  • Do not feel pressured to remain
  • Use Safety Override for urgent safety concerns
  • Report serious behaviour through MunchAlong
  • Contact local emergency services when immediate danger exists
  • Do not share private information unless you choose to

Cancellations and attendance

  • Leave the Munch before the cut-off when plans change
  • Do not leave others waiting without notice
  • Repeated no-shows harm the community
  • Do not introduce new penalty wording beyond existing approved rules

After the Munch

  • Submit private feedback honestly
  • Feedback is not shown publicly
  • Use feedback to report attendance, safety and serious conduct concerns
