Moderation & Enforcement
Last updated: 24 July 2026
MunchAlong uses private feedback, attendance records, accountability counters, safety reports and manual review to help protect the community.
This page explains how moderation works.
Human review
Version 1 moderation decisions are made by authorised administrators.
MunchAlong does not automatically ban a person using a public reliability score or star rating.
Automatic accountability records
The platform may automatically record:
- Successfully Hosted Munches.
- Successfully Joined Munches.
- Host no-shows.
- Guest no-shows.
- Host late cancellations.
- Guest late cancellations.
Successful Hosted and Joined counts may be visible publicly.
Negative-behaviour records remain private.
Information used during review
A moderator may review relevant information, including:
- Munch status and outcome.
- Active-participant records.
- Check-In records.
- Private feedback.
- Attendance confirmations.
- Cancellation timing.
- Safety Override cases.
- Temporary Separations.
- Previous restrictions.
- Administrative actions.
- Account history.
MunchAlong will not necessarily rely on one report or one data point.
Possible actions
Depending on the circumstances, MunchAlong may:
- Take no action.
- Issue a warning.
- Remove a participant from a Munch.
- Restrict joining.
- Restrict hosting.
- Temporarily suspend an account.
- Permanently ban an account.
- Apply or extend a Temporary Separation.
- Remove content.
- Cancel a Munch.
- Preserve records for safety or legal purposes.
No-shows
A Host no-show is treated separately from a Guest no-show.
A Host has responsibility for the Munch they created.
A Guest has responsibility for the place they reserved.
Repeated no-shows may lead to account review and action.
Late cancellations
A late cancellation is recorded when a Host or Guest cancels less than one hour before the scheduled Munch start time.
Repeated late cancellations may lead to moderation.
Safety override
A Safety Override creates a private safety record and may trigger moderator review.
MunchAlong may apply protective measures without revealing one person's report or identity to another person.
Temporary separation
MunchAlong may prevent two users from seeing or joining each other's Munches.
This measure may be temporary or permanent.
MunchAlong might not notify users every time a separation is created, extended or removed.
Private feedback
Post-Munch feedback is private.
It is used for attendance, moderation, safety and product analysis.
MunchAlong does not publish public star ratings or written reviews.
False or abusive reports
Deliberately false, malicious or retaliatory reports may lead to account action.
Disputed information
Users might provide conflicting accounts.
Where the evidence is unclear, MunchAlong may record an outcome as disputed or insufficient rather than treating one account as proven.
Appeals
A user may request a review through the Contact Us page.
The request should explain:
- The decision being challenged.
- Why the user believes it should be reviewed.
- Any relevant supporting information.
MunchAlong is not required to reverse a decision merely because an appeal is submitted.
Final decisions
MunchAlong may make a final decision after reviewing the available information.
